Hiking in the Alps
Welcome to the Merano 2000 hiking region. One of the most beautiful and sunny high plateaus awaits you above the basin of Merano (from 1600 until 2350 meters). The magnificent mountain scenery of the Dolomites, the Ortler group or the mountains around Merano are of breathtaking beauty and everything a hiker's heart desires. Clearly signposted promenades and hiking trails as well as partly fixed rope routes allow for the exploration of this stunningly beautiful landscape. The pleasent calmness of the moutains are a guarentee of relaxation.

Panoramic Three-alps circular route
Marking 16 - 11 - 2/2A / Hiking time 4 hours / From the Hafling Village car park (1280m) you take the hiking trail No.16 to Leadner alp (1514m) and proceed to Voeran alp (1875m). The way back leads you to Hafling Village via Wurzer alp (1707m). Duration: about 4 hours. Alternative: this hike is also recommended the other way round, from the Hafling Village car park in direction to the guildhall on trail No.2 respectively 2a, you can hike to Wurzer alp, Voeran alp and finally Leadner alp, and from there back to the departing point.
Hike to the little St Kathrein church
Marking 5 - 2 / Hiking time 2 hours / A one hour short but gorgeous hike leads from car park number 5 in Hafling village (bus stop) to St Kathrein. Past the guildhall in Hafling the hike leads through the old but well maintained bikeway – called Buergele way, No. 2. Shortly after the road in direction Falzeben you will come upon a tourist office information board, on the right hand side branches the shady forestry trail leading to St.Kathrein.
Hike to Sulfen Pond
Marking 14 / Hiking time 2 hours / From the Nusser car park in Hafling you hike on trail No: 14, slightly uphill till Sonnenheim restaurant, you cross the street, pass by the Innerhofer horse farm and take the fork to St Kathrein to reach the idyllic Sulfen Pond. Benches invite to rest here a while, and in summer you can enjoy the beauty of water lilies. Now you continue to hike slightly downhill, passing the restaurant and the horse farm Sulfner until St Kathrein (beautiful panorama view of Merano), then you go back on a tarred but closed road to the point of departure.
