Hike to Sulfen Pond
The Great Ifinger is also referred to as the local mountain of Schenna and is located at an altitude of 2.581m. It offers a wonderful panoramic view. However, as it is a secured via ferrata when climbing the summit, a good mountain experience, sure-footedness and a head for heights are a prerequisite.
Starting from the mountain station on Meran 2000, trail n. 3 leads past the Waidmann hut and climbs steadily up to the little church of St. Oswald (2,200m). Continue on the Oswaldscharte to the Kuhleiten hut on 2,363 vertical meters. Following the path n. 19, you first reach the small Ifinger (2,552m) - also here you can enjoy a wonderful view. Here begins the ferrate to the Great Ifinger, these rock passages are sure-footed and free from giddy mountain goats. The way back leads on the same way.
